Project Overview This event is a slight departure for the Commission,
but because of its significance, the invitation to join the community
support for this project was accepted by the Commission. Over the past few years, plans have been under development for a world- class veterans park to honor the service of residents of Hillsborough County, Florida who made extreme sacrifices during each war in the County’s history (KIA, POW, etc.). But integral in the design is an opportunity to honor all Confederate Veterans from any State or locality (see below.) The County has committed great resources in converting the existing park and museum into a Veterans shrine...honoring all Veterans from all Wars, beginning with the Seminole War up to and including the Global War on Terror. The new park will attract thousands of residents and visitors each year to pay tribute to fallen heroes from our area into perpetuity. Upon its completion, the War Between the States (“WBTS”) theatre will receive appropriate and proper recognition in the mainstream of the civic landscape—forever.
The Vietnam War Monument
was dedicated in 2012, and in January of this year, the design plan for
the WBTS Monument was approved.
Your Participation Cost of the inscribed memorial bricks are $50 for a
4X8 brick or $100 for an 8X8 brick. The event was designed to teach the public that the participation of Hillsborough County's Veterans or are of equal significance and deserving equal recognition to those of American Veterans of other Wars. This project honors the valor of the Soldier and Sailor from Tampa Bay to Florida and her Southern Confederacy 150 years ago.
