Age at enlistment:  19

Born: January 7, 1844 in Georgia

Died:  April 21, 1906 near Auburndale, Polk Co., FL

Final Resting Place: Collins Cemetery, Lakeland, Polk Co, FL

Married:  Narcissa Black (B. Feb 1844 in Alabama) on February 1865 in Sumter, Co., FL

Children:  Beulah (B.  June 1882 in Florida)

 

*Enlisted 8/1/1861 at Tampa.  He was AWOL since 6/1/1862 and reenlisted 8/20/1862 in Company C, 9th Florida Infantry at Bayport as a substitute for M. Edwards.  He was AWOL since 10/20/1863 and dropped after December 1863.

Appears on 1900 US Census of Polk Co., FL occupation, farmer.

Pvt. Griffin survived the War and applied for and received a Florida Confederate Veteran's Pension #A00785 in Polk Co., FL on 8 June, 1887 claiming to have been discharged wounded in action in the left arm at Atlanta 7/22/1864.  His widow, Narcissa, received a widow's pension on his service on 8 August, 1906.
