Born:  22 Apr 1825 in Barnwell Co., South Carolina
Parents:  Elijah Siliam Sweat and Sarah C. "Sally" Harback

Married:  Margaret Townsend (B abt. 1838 in FL) bef 1854

Died:  after 1880 in Tampa, Hillsborough Co., FL

Final Resting Place:  unknown

Children:

James Marion (B. abt 1859 in FL)
Lawrence B.  (abt. 1861 in Tampa, FL)
Edward Lee (B 3 Mar 1866 in Tampa, FL)

Appears on 1860 US Census of Hillsborough County with family occupation:  farmer.

Enlisted 6/6/1861 at Tampa.  He was not reelected 5/12/1862 and was dropped. He reenlisted 5/l0/2 in Cp/ B, 7th Florida Infantry at Tampa as a substitute for W. Hooker.  He was promoted 2nd Lt 5/8/1863 then Captain 11/19/1863. He was wounded then hospitalized 1/26/1865 in Meridian, MS.

 

He did not survive to receive a Confederate Veteran pension.
