Appears on 1860 US Census of Hillsborough Co., FL, Tampa as a blacksmith apprentice.

Enlisted 7/25/1861 at Tampa and was wounded in the hand 9/20/1863 at Chickamauga. He was captured 7/3/1864 at Marietta, GA and sent to Camp Douglas POW Camp, IL (at age 19). He applied to take the oath in January 1865 stating that he was conscripted and had deserted under the terms of the Amnesty Proclamation.  He was mustered into the 6th US Volunteer Infantry 4/3/65.

No further information is known about Pvt. Sparkman.


There is no record of Pvt. Sparkman receiving a Florida Confederate Veteran's Pension.
