Born:  abt. 1841 in Alabama

Parents:  Thomas Mitchell and Elizabeth Sterns

Died:  3/19/1900 Polk Co.

Final Resting Place:  *Polk Co., FL

Married:   Francis Lenora Crum 10/24/1867

Children: Susan (B abt. 1867), Charles (B abt. 1869)

 

Enlisted 12/9/1861 at Tampa . He was absent sick in a Tampa hospital since 4/12/1863 on the last roll.  In Dallas, GA on 30 June 1863 he received pay for commutation and rations while on furlough for 30 days.  His younger brother, Henry Laurens Mitchell and elder brother Francis M. Mitchell also served.

Appears on the 1870 US Census of Polk Co, FL, occupation farmer.

Pvt. Mitchell's widow, Francis received a Florida Confederate Veteran's Widow's Pension #A01882 on 15 December 1907 in Polk Co., FL
