The following Florida Veteran is being honored in this project:



private WILLIAM M. LEMACKS - POW (2)

Age at enlistment: 23

Born:  1839

Enlisted 6 June, 1861 in Tampa. He was reported Missing in Action at Murfreesboro and captured on 2 January, 1863, sent to Camp Douglas POW Camp, Ohio.  Survived the winter, and
and paroled  3/30/1863 and exchanged at City Point, VA.  Received furlough 4/25/1863.  Returned to service and captured again at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on 7 December 1864.  Sent to Louisville, KY on 11 January, 1875 then sent to Camp Chase POW Camp, Ohio for rest of the winter.. Paroled at War's end, sent to New Orleans.

 

No Confederate Veteran pension record found.
