MAJOR JACOB A. LASH - POW - DIED

Age at enlistment: abt. 31

Born:  abt. 1839 in North Carolina

Died: 21 May 1865 at Johnson Island POW Camp, OH

Final Resting Place: Johnson Island POW Camp Cemetery

Married: Misouri (bef. 1852 in GA) B. 1840 in GA

Children:  Elizabeth G. and Gertrude

 

The US 1860 Census of Florida of Madison County shows occupation Engineer

Major in the 4th Florida, until War's end.  Was captured at Nashville in early 1865 and was taken to Johnson Island POW Camp, where he perished a month after War's end.

Widow Lash appears on the 1870 Census of Madison Co., FL.

He did not survive to receive a Florida Confederate Veteran's Pension.
