Born:  1838 in Florida

Parents:  Enoch E. and Fatima Knight

Died:  January 13, 1907 in Polk Co., Florida

Final Resting Place:  unknown

Married:  (1) Elizabeth (2) Victoria (B): 30May 1844, Clayborne Co., MS) on 3 April 1872

Children:  Frances (abt. 1857), Charles (abt. 1858), Walter (abt. 1873), Calfrey (abt. 1876)


 

 Enlisted Oct 24, 1861 in Manatee Co. for 12 mos. by Capt. Stockton.  Transferred by exchange 16 Sept 1863, wounded Sept 20, 1863.  Surrendered by Gen. Joseph E. Johnson and paroled at Greensboro, NC, May 1865.

Six brothers served:  Two (James N. and Jesse C) in his unit, Hardy, William and Daniel served in Munnerlyn's Battalion (Florida Cow Cavalry) and Samuel K. in Co. B 10th FL Infantry.

Robert appears on the census of Hillsborough County in 1860 in the household of brother William Collins (23) and Elizabeth (17).   Appears on the 1880 Hillsborough County, FL census as head of household with wife Victoria  - occupation listed as farmer.

Pvt. Collins' widow, Victoria received a Florida Confederate Veteran's Widows Pension # A11540 approved 6 June 1909 while living in Crewsville, DeSoto Co., Florida.
